ABOUT ME

IMG_6907_edited.jpg

I’m Ale Madio and I teach yoga and wellbeing practices in the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne area.

Don’t worry if you’re a complete beginner or an experienced yogi. I’m approachable, friendly, and down to earth and I adapt to the unique individual that you are. I bring my caring intuition into each class or workshop and will help you feel confident, relaxed and more in tune with yourself. The influence of yoga will go well beyond the time spent in the session, as you will transfer a sense of wellbeing back into your daily routine.

Yoga can be for everyone, without barriers. By opening the body, you can release trapped negativity and feel a greater sense of self-worth. It’s a way to ground yourself with simple breathing practices; to be mindful and in the moment, helping you to cope with stress and worries. It’s a time-out by yourself away from other demands on your time, which can give you a much-needed break and feelings of calm. Breathe deep and give it a go!

Namaste, Ale

My story so far

I was born in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, a colourful city with a perfect tropical climate and the most heart-warming, welcoming and positive people I've ever known.

When I came to the UK in 2014 as part of a job relocation, I thought I would be here only 3 years before going back home but life had different plans for me. Three years later we decided to move from York to Newcastle-upon-tyne for a new Marketing role I was offered and a few years later I had my baby boy who was born at the peak of the pandemic. Until now, I have worked full-time as a marketing professional but since yoga has been such a support during my life changes, I have decided to share my love of it with the world.

I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) qualification in June 2019 and months later had the chance to start teaching group classes in a studio. It was an incredible experience and one that made me discover how much I enjoy teaching yoga and helping others through movement and breathing.

In 2020, I was blessed with my baby boy. It took me some time to recover physically and mentally from giving birth and all the changes and challenges that come with becoming a parent for the first time. One of those challenges was learning to cope with postnatal depression, but I put my trust in yoga and meditation; my best tools to fight against depression, fatigue and a sore body.

In 2021 I decided it was time to go back to be a student and joined one of the most amazing online Teacher Training programs for my 300Hrs certification. I still feel that I’m just at the beginning of my career as a yoga teacher, but I know I will always be a student of the practice and I am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers and colleagues have shared with me.

How yoga found me

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that ‘yoga found me’ at the stage in my life when I was ready to receive it. The very first classes I attended 15 years ago only served to frustrate me in my lack of flexibility and results. I thought it was ‘not my thing’ and continued to work out in the gym and live a fast-paced lifestyle. When I began to suffer acute back pain,

It was a trigger to reassess my priorities and to work on my body (and mind) in a more holistic way to counteract the somatic response to the chronic stress and unhealthy lifestyle I was experiencing. I nourished my energetic body too and started a yoga and mindfulness practice routine again. For New Year 2018 I attended a yoga retreat in Italy, that made me fall in love with yoga for good. This was the tipping point where I stopped thinking of yoga as a form of exercise and surrendered to the peace, harmony and spirituality it brought; gaining a true balance of body and mind.

My teaching style

It is this balance that I bring into my Vinyasa classes. I create a safe, non-competitive space for students to dive beneath the physical aspect of yoga and achieve deeper transformation through a practice that includes pranayama breathing techniques, mindfulness and meditation.

I like to do slow and gentle sequences with intentional themes, emphasising the importance of proper alignment but also helping my students tune-in with their bodies and do what feels right rather than what looks good.

The intention for all of my classes is to teach participants how to access their inner awareness by paying attention to the breath as the body moves; to bring about a state of serenity and a renewal of energy.

What else I bring to my classes

Apart from being a marketeer and yoga teacher, I’m a very curious person and passionate about anything related to self-development. In the last five years I’ve spent a good chunk of my free time as a learning junkie. I’ve researched and read about childhood trauma, sought answers to unlocking our biggest potential to living a happy, vibrant and abundant life. I’ve also experienced first-hand many therapies and top-level coaching programmes that have given me the inspiration and motivation to start my own coaching programme. I feel that the darkest points in my life have been a great gift; they have taught me how to find the light. And that’s what I want to share with you.

My dream is to become a Yoga Coach, I want to help and inspire people who feel, like I once felt, that ‘yoga is not their thing’. I believe that regardless of age, body shape and limitations, yoga is available to everyone and it is the right way to start a wellbeing and self-love journey.
